Curriculum reform has been constantly updated and developed in recent years,and English reform is also a variety of opinions emerging in an endless stream.However,the problem is that English listening has not received adequate attention although it plays an important role in exam-oriented and quality-oriented education.The author puts forward several typical problems existing in current senior English listening teaching in this paper,and advocates to apply the Multiple Intelligences theory to deal with them.The purpose of this paper is to study the effectiveness of the application of the Multiple Intelligences theory in senior high English listening teaching.Three research questions are posed as follows:Question 1: How does the application of the Multiple Intelligences theory influence senior high students' English listening interest?Question 2: Can the application of the Multiple Intelligences theory enhance senior high school students' autonomous listening learning ability?Question 3: Can the application of the Multiple Intelligences theory promote senior high school students' English listening proficiency?This experiment lasted for 18 weeks and involved 110 participants from Grade Ten in Senior School attached to Bohai University.Experimental class students were taught under the guidance of the Multiple Intelligences theory whilst Control Class students are taught with the traditional listening teaching method.The experiment is based on quantitative research such as the questionnaires,pre-test and post-test,as well as qualitative research such as the interview.The results are analyzed with Statistical Product and Service Solutions.It appears that the application of the Multiple Intelligences theory to senior high school English listening teaching helps improve students' listening interest,autonomous listening learning ability and English proficiency.Therefore,although this experiment needs to be further improved,it is evident that the application of the Multiple Intelligences theory in English listening teaching of senior high school is effective and feasible.
