Food Attention Bias Of Females With Fat Negative Physical Self:An Eye Tracking Study

Fat negative physical self individuals keeps long-term negative evaluations of their own body shape,while have paid more attention to information of body size and weight.They often compare their weight with others,easily fall into negative mood.It could affect their weight-related eating and other behaviors,even produce some pathological symptoms(overeat)which can be reflected by attention bias.Attention biases for food cues after negative emotions were induced were measured by recordings of eye movements during a visual probe task with pictorial food versus non-food stimuli.According to previous research,we proposed that females with fat negative physical self are more vulnerable to pay attention to high-calorie foods by negative emotions,to explore the possible cause of the eating problem of at negative physical self.There are 3 experiments in this study,participants were selected from 300 females college students,68 subjects were divided into a fat negative physical self group(n = 32)and a control group(n = 36).Experiment 1 used a visual probe paradigm to investigate attention bias of high-calorie foods versus low-calorie foods.Experiment 2 to investigate attention bias of high-calorie foods versus low-calorie foods after positive emotions or negative emotions were induced.Experiment 3 to investigate attention bias of high-calorie foods versus low-calorie foods after body information were induced.The results of experiment 1 shows,females with fat negative physical self show more duration bias on high-calorie foods.In experiment 2,females with fat negative physical self have more attention avoided on high-calorie foods and attention bias on lowcalorie foods after positive emotion induction,females with fat negative physical self pay more attention on foods and show more direction bias on high-calorie foods after negative emotion induction.In experiment 3,females with fat negative physical self pay more attention on foods and show more duration bias on high-calorie foods after fat related information induction.Females with fat negative physical self show more direction bias on high-calorie foods after thin related information induction.All experiments were consistent with the hypothesis,in conclusions,we found that females with fat negative physical self were more direction bias on high-calorie foods,easily affected by negative emotions and pay more attention to high-calorie foods,and fat related information can activate negative emotions of females with fat negative physical self.
