Now China is witnessing an increasingly close interaction with the international community.Close exchanges between countries are conductive to mutual learning.Hangzhou Bay New Zone(Ningbo)conforms to the recent development and provides opportunities for international interaction.It strives to expand domestic and international market while seeking more opportunities for cooperation and investment.To enhance communication and cooperation with the rest of the world,a bilingual text in English and Chinese becomes one important way to publicize Hangzhou Bay New Zone(Ningbo).Besides,as an important method of global communication,translation shouldn't be overlooked,because it will help foreign readers get access to the latest information of New Zone and bring opportunities for economic growth.This report is based on the text,the Mid-term Assessment of Hangzhou Bay New Zone's(Ningbo)Overall Planning(excerpt).The author is assigned to translate the latter part,which includes Integrated Transportation,Municipal Infrastructure and Integration of Zone and Town.Under the guidance of Newmark's communicative translation theory,current studies on translation for global communication are analyzed and some translation difficulties are discussed in specific cases,such as proper nouns,abbreviation and sentence without subject.In order to solve these translation difficulties,the effective translation methods are further explored so as to achieve the text's effect of promoting publicity,information exchange and communication.By virtue of translation practice,the author finds that some translation methods like omission,addition and annotation are suitable to this report.As the global communication is involved in many different fields,only one report is not enough to illustrate all translation methods or skills.But this report still has the significance for reference by discussing representative cases from the source text.This report is made up of five parts: translation task description,relevant theories review,process description,translation methods and conclusion.It aims to apply relevant translation theories to discuss the effective translation methods on the basis of translation practice.Through these efforts,the author hopes that translation qualities and personal translation capabilities could be gradually improved and makes a small contribution to relevant translation practice.
