| This is a translation project report on English-Chinese translation of Translation in Global News(Chapter I & II),which is coauthored by Esperanca Bielsa and Susan Bassnett.Chapter I & II describe the topics such as the ambiguities of translation,translating and the news,globalization and translation etc.and analyze the behavior of cultural turn and textual manipulation.News translation is not merely translating one language into another.It spreads the information across different cultures,sometimes the transformation even includes reshaping,editing,cutting to meet the demand of target readers.The new pressure of translation in global news is how to successfully transmit the information between different regions,languages and cultures.Based on the linguistic characteristics of the source text and Peter Newmark's theory,the strategies of communicative translation and semantic translation are adopted to solve the difficult points encountered in translation.This report composes of five chapters.Chapter I is an introduction.It introduces of the background and significance of this project,the author and the text features.Chapter II introduces the process of translation.Chapter III elaborates Peter Newmark's translation theory.Chapter IV analyzes cases from the level of lexicon,syntax,discourse and culture.Chapter V makes a conclusion about this project,pointing out what the translator learned from this project,theoretically and practically. |
