The source text Integrated planning: Policy and law tools for biodiversity conservation and climate change is selected from a publication of International Union for Conservation of Nature(IUCN)by Barbara Lausche,a member of IUCN.This project aims to help modernize spatial planning and promote sustainable development by meeting the need for biodiversity conservation and ecosystem resilience to climate change, along with a list of policy and law tools. It is an informative text and pursues authenticity with a large number of terminologies. In terms of language, translators should take readers' needs into consideration to make the translation easy to understand.Based on the text type and features mentioned above, this report combines specific cases with Newmark's text type theory of translation and analyzes them from three aspects: vocabulary, sentence and discourse. The translator employs the method of changing the part of speech, adding and omitting, changing sentence pattern and discourse cohesion to explore the flexibility of translation.By classifying different texts, the text semantic and communicative functions can be fully achieved to convey the information of relevant laws and policies and call for a comprehensive spatial planning system. Finally, this report summarizes the whole translation project with a view to be helpful to the translation of similar versions in the future. In translation,we should accurately convey the information and grasp the stylistic characteristics to realize the communicative function as expected.
