Adaptation Theory In C-E Simultaneous Interpreting

As China continues to make greater achievements,it has become more and more important in international societies and has attracted more attentions from other countries.Besides,communication between countries has become more frequent in economy,politics,culture,and ideology.In this process,interpreting plays a vital role.And the press conference is one of the most effective ways for information dissemination and communication.The wording in the press conference is formal,and the contents conveyed are authoritative.Besides,long and difficult sentences are often used,thus making SI more difficult to interpret.Based on Jef Verschueren's Pragmatic Adaptation Theory,this thesis takes the SI of the regular press conference of the Ministry of Commerce in November,2018 as an example to analyze the difficulties in C-E SI of the press conference of commerce and the role of pragmatic adaptation theory.The thesis finds that: 1)Interpreters should always maintain their strong sense of adaptation.2)Skills like words selection and the adaptation of words extended meaning are frequently employed in the SI of press conference,which improves the interpreters' efficiency.3)In order to conform to a language and culture,it is essential for interpreters to be well prepared before interpreting.All in all,this thesis has theoretical significance and practical value for C-E SI of press conferences of commerce.
