According to Adaptation Theory, language use is a process in which language user's choice and adaptation to the needs of communicative context to achieve communicative intention.Adaptation Theory has four researching perspectives(communicative context, linguistic context, dynamic context, and the interpreter's adaptation consciousness),which constitute the overall framework for analyzing language activities. Therefore, the four perspectives of Adaptation Theory may provide analytical methods for the simultaneous interpreter's language choice and adaptation.Compared with the previous studies which focused on the theoretical guidance of simultaneous interpreting behavior, this thesis focuses more on the study of the target language of the simultaneous interpreter from the four perspectives of Adaptation Theory.Based on Adaptation Theory, this thesis selects Chang'e-4 Mission Press Conference in 2019 as the corpus. With the four perspectives of Adaptation Theory as the theoretical analysis tool, this thesis dissects the interpreter's language choice and adaptation in C-E simultaneous interpreting. The four perspectives of Adaptation Theory are:(1)communicative context includes the cultural factor of the social world, the emotional cognition of the psychological world, and the occasion factor in the physical world;(2)linguistic context refers to the differences between Chinese and English expressions in words, sentences, and discourse;(3)dynamic context contains the time dimension and the speaker's speaking style;(4)interpreter's adaptation consciousness, which means the interpreter's consciousness salience in the process of simultaneous interpreting.Through analysis, there are four characteristics of Chang'e-4 Mission PressConference:(1)background differences;(2)cognitive differences;(3)linguistic structure and style differences;(4)language characteristics and emotional attitudes of the source language.Based on the four characteristics of Chang'e-4 Mission Press Conference, the thesis applies the four perspectives of Adaptation Theory to analyze the target language of the interpreter of Chang'e-4 Mission Press Conference. The interpreter uses interpreting skills to conduct simultaneous interpreting, for instance, omission, addition, word formation, paraphrase, deletion of source language expressions, and adjustment of language structure.Based on the case study, the author provides some suggestions, hoping to offer some references for the interpreter in the practice of C-E simultaneous interpreting.
