Preparation before an interpreting task plays a vital role in enhancing interpreting quality.Acknowledged by the academia, interpreting preparation can be divided into long-term preparation and short-term preparation.Scholars and interpreters have discussed a lot on short-term preparation, yet there is not even a clear and recognized definition of long-term preparation in academia. Before we discuss preparation methods, this paper tries to redefine the process of long-term preparation and design a long-term preparation model on the basis of several interpreting training models.Based on this new model, the paper conducts a questionnaire survey on MTI students at China Foreign Affairs University to find out the situation of their long-term preparation at school, including their attitudes, advantages, and deficiencies in long-term preparation, and interviews five professional interpreters to learn about their attitudes and practical experience, offering suggestions to MTI students. After analyzing the results of the questionnaire survey and interview, the paper puts forward a more complete and reasonable interpreting preparation method, hoping it will offer practical guidance to interpreting study. |
