As we all know,French surrealism has its unique historical background. From a practical point of view,in the early twentieth century, after entering modernity, the whole of Europe was in a turbulent culture, art, and literary turmoil, the most important of which was the reflection and criticism on rationalism and scientism since the Enlightenment.Under this trend of thought,Dadaism in the field of art insisted that the Philistines in the sense of Matthew Arnold was the culprit of World War I.It was a decisive anti-art.The surrealism developed on this basis combines Dadaism's subversiveness with Freud's psychoanalytic theory to explore the unconscious area that is forgotten by artists before. When surrealism was introduced to China,China faced its own national conditions. After the New Culture Movement,Western studies were introduced to China. However, due to China's unique political environment at that time, surrealism did not attract the attention of Chinese artists. However, with the advent of reform and opening up,especially the impact of the 85 Fine Art Movement, the Chinese art has experienced severe turbulence, and the voice of reform on the theme and form of artistic creation has gradually increased.Though focusing on people's daily life, the art works at this time can only be said to have surrealistic characteristics, and are not real surrealistic works.Nowadays, due to the great wealth of material wealth and the drastic changes in people's needs, the art field is also facing similar artistic explorations. On the one hand, the artist wants to get rid of the previous realistic painting method, and on the other hand, they are suffering from the difficulty that Chinese oil painting can really enter the modernity.Although many works of art claim to have modern consciousness, their expression is superficial.Among them, surrealistic painting is one of the fruitful exploration results of Chinese contemporary artists. This thesis's discussion starts with the theory of surrealism, and aims to explore the impact of this art form on Chinese oil painting creation. This article is divided into three parts:The first part is the theoretical introduction part, which is mainly divided into two parts. The first part defines the surrealism in the art field, and the second part mainly introduces the surrealist artistic characteristics and its classification. The second part is the analysis of the emotional expression of surrealist oil painting creation, which is mainly divided into two parts. The first part introduces the creative emotions of surrealist painting and the constructive modes of emotion:subconscious painting, paranoid critique and dislocation reconstruction. The second part introduces the background of creative emotion, which is divided into the cultural background and the rational and irrational emotional combination. The third part is surrealistic oil painting In the analysis of emotion expression, for foreign artists,Dali and Magritte and domestic famous contemporary artist Xu Manyao was selected for analysis. After that, the academic analysis of emotion expression was combined with my own creation. It is found through research that surrealist painting has become a very influential art genre in the field of contemporary Chinese art.Contemporary surrealist painting has not only caused a major shock to the art world in the past, but will also continue to affect China in the future.
