In recent years,as the cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries have become more frequent, cultural translation, especially the translation of regional culture, has become increasingly important. This paper is a report on the translation practice from Chinese to English. The translation material in this report is selected from the book The Meandering Jinjiang River: The History of Bashu Culture, which is written by Professor Duan Yu and Tan Luofei. The book mainly introduces the development of Bashu culture, and the translator is responsible for the excerpts of Chapter Three which focus on Bashu's social organization transformation, cultural integration, migration and cultural cultivation in the Qin and Han Dynasties. The excerpts of the source text involve many professional terms of Bashu culture, and the knowledge is extensive, which involves a wide range of knowledge and bring great challenges to the translator. This is a difficult point in the translation practice.Katharina Reiss' s text typology theory argues that the text type is the main factor affecting the translator's choice of translation strategies.Once the text type is determined, the translation strategy can also be identified.According to Reiss' s classification of the texts, the source text of this translation practice mainly belongs to the informative text.Reiss argues that informative texts mainly present facts and emphasize contents, and all information should be translated in a concise and logical language. In the translation process, translating some Chinese cultural terms of the source text is considered as the difficulty in this translation practice. In order to solve this difficulty and convey the information of the source text in an accurate way,the translator analyzes the text functions and language features of the source text first, then clarifies the logical relationship and semantic meaning, and flexibly adopts corresponding translation strategies based on the characteristics of the informative text under the guidance of Reiss' s text typology theory.During the translation process, the translator tries to solve the key and difficult problems in the translation. The translator adopts some translation strategies such as transliteration, paraphrase, amplification, omission, division and combination,so as to improve the quality of the translation as much as possible.Through this translation practice, the translator realizes that the translator not only needs to have certain theoretical knowledge and certain practical experience but also needs sufficient pre-translation preparation and strong bilingual ability. These are the guarantees for high-quality translation. When translating the terminology of the informative text, the translator should first consider the type and function of the text, and then select the appropriate translation strategy according to its function, and strive to achieve the accuracy, completeness and logic of the translation of the informative text.
