The practice report is based on the Chinese-English translation of the tourist publicity literature of Baiyangdian Scenic Spot.With a description of the translation process and an analysis of the different stylistic features of Chinese and English tourism texts,the report explores the translation methods of the English translation of the tourism text guided by the skopos theory.Taking the case study as the main research form,the report reflects how to achieve adequacy,a translation standard required by the three rules of the skopos theory.In accordance with the skopos rule,amplification is applied to the translation of the culture-loaded words in order to realize the cultural retrieval and improve the tourism information transitivity.For the obscure poems and semantic redundancy,omission is implemented,with the thought of the source text retained,to reduce the target reader's reading burden.The use of amplification and omission conforms to the insistence of the skopos theory that equivalence is not a standard to evaluate the translation.The adoption of the two methods is conducive to achieving the communicative purpose of the tourism text and arousing the potential tourists' interest in visiting.According to the coherence rule and with an analysis of the adjustment of word order,reconstruction and combined translation,the report lays special emphasis on the ways to achieve the coherence and readability of the target text.The report takes the view that only by adopting flexibly domestication and foreignization can the requirements needed by the translation purposes of the tourism text be met and the translation adequacy be achieved.The report demonstrates that the skopos theory has a high guiding significance to the tourism text translation,and facilitates the realization of the functions of the tourism text in the target language environment.
