Self-concept clarity is a structured self-concept,which refers to an individual's confidence and clarity in self-evaluation and self-knowledge.It has an important impact on students' study and life.Taking middle school students as the research object,this study explores the characteristics of self-concept clarity of middle school students and its influence on student engagement,so as to provide theoretical basis for improving the level of student engagement of middle school students.Referring to previous studies,it is found that the individual's perceived social support ability can have a certain impact on the individual's learning and life.Therefore,this study also studies the mechanism of the middle school students' perceived social support between self-concept clarity and student engagement.In this study,self-concept clarity scale(SCCS),perceived social support scale(PSSS)and student engagement scale were used as research tools.876 middle school students were selected as research objects.Descriptive statistics,independent sample t-test,variance analysis,correlation analysis,regression analysis and other statistical analysis methods were used to analyze the data.The results are as follows:(1)The level of clarity of self-concept of middle school students is slightly lower than the theoretical mean level;there is a significant difference in gender,and the score of boys is significantly higher than that of girls;there is a significant difference in grades,and the overall trend is increasing in each school segment,but there is a significant decline in the junior grade three and senior grade three;although there is no significant difference in study performance,students with higher study performance have significantly higher self-concept clarity scores than those with medium and low study performance.(2)Middle school students' ability of perceived social support is in the upper middle level;there is significant difference in grades,which gradually declines from junior grade one to the senior grade one,but it gradually rises from the second year of senior high school;although there is no significant difference in the birthplace of significantly higher than that of students from rural areas;there is significant difference in family economic situation,the scores of the students whose family economic situation is higher than the average and those who are in the average are significantly higher than those of the students whose family economic situation is lower than the average.(3)The level of middle school students' student engagement is at the upper-middle level;there is a significant difference in grades,which gradually declines from junior grade one to the senior grade one,but it gradually rises from the second year of senior high school;there is a significant difference in whether or not class leaders,the score of students who are class cadres is significantly higher than that of students who are not class cadres;there is a significant difference in study performance,and the scores of students with upper and middle study performance are significantly higher than the scores of students with lower study performance;although there is no significant difference in the family economic situation,the students whose family economic situation is in the average have the highest score,followed by the students whose family economic situation is lower than the average,and the students whose family economic situation is higher than the average have the lowest score.(4)The self-concept clarity,perceived social support and study performance of middle school students are positively correlated;self-concept clarity has a positive predictive effect on perceived social support and study performance,and perceived social support has a positive predictive effect on study performance.(5)Middle school students' perceived social support plays a part of mediating role in the influence of self-concept clarity on learning input,and the mediating effect value is 30.09%.
