A Study On The Smantic Cognition Of Na Compound Words In Modern Chinese

This paper studies the compound words consisting of a noun and an adjective(NA compound words)in modern Chinese.The generative lexicon theory is referred to in the study of NA compound words in three aspects: detailed analysis of the semantics including internal semantic relation and morpheme as well as meaning categories,transferred designation,and producing of the semantics based on the generative lexical theory and the conceptual integration theory.The scope of NA compound words is firstly defined,based on which the internal semantic relation of NA compound words are observed.That in the subject-verb NA compound words are simple while in the modifier-head structure it's more complicated.Moreover,features of noun morphemes and adjective morphemes are concluded with analysis of the corpus,and the semantics is classified accordingly.The next part of this paper discusses transferred designation of NA compound words of different properties,and elaborates on that by category.Finally,based on the material structure theory and the conceptual integration theory,this paper presents the process of general conceptual integration,conceptual integration of metaphor,conceptual integration of transferred designation,and conceptual integration of transferred metaphor designation.The combination features of the qualia structure of noun morphemes and the element structure of adjective morphemes are summarized with motivations explored respectively.
