Listening and speaking is an important part of English language teaching. The listening and speaking ability of English learners largely determines whether they can effectively communicate with existing language knowledge.Good listening and speaking teaching is inseparable from the real language environment. However, the lack of language environment in rural areas of China directly affects the quality of English listening and speaking teaching. The emergence of mobile technology “Reading Partner” APP offers a chance to change this.Based on Stephen D.Krashen's input hypothesis,Swain's output theory and the cognitive theory of multimodal learning, this paper applying the experiment method, the questionnaire method and the interview method from the view of quantitative and qualitative analytical approaches, studies the effectiveness of mobile technology “Reading Partner” APP assisted listening and speaking teaching for senior students in primary schools. The aim of this study is to verify that the mobile technology “Reading Partner” APP assisted teaching can improve students' English listening and speaking ability and interest, judge the effectiveness of the mobile technology assisted teaching and present some suggestions for English teaching. This study also has positive significance for promoting “Wisdom Teaching” and improving the teaching effect. This study selects 64 students from two classes of Grade 6 in a primary school of Si Ping,Ji Lin Province. The auxiliary teaching method adopts the mobile technology“Reading Partner” APP assisted teaching and the traditional reading and reciting method. After the pretest, both the two classes participated a questionnaire of English listening and speaking interest. After the teaching experiment, the experimental class does the questionnaire again. The two classes have the pre and post-test at the same time, and six students are selected from the three stages of high, middle and low scores of the experimental class to be interviewed. The results of the study shows that after a semester of teaching experiment, the experimental class is better than the control class in English listening and speaking interest and listening and speaking ability. It demonstrates that the mobile technology assisted teaching is effective, and it can improve students' ' interest and ability in English listening and speaking. Therefore,in order toachieve better teaching results,it is suggested that rural senior primary schools use ‘Reading Partner” APP or other similar mobile technology to assist English teaching. This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, including the research background, purpose, significance, and the structure of the paper; The second chapter is a literature review, involving related concepts and theories, some researches of mobile technology assisted teaching and listening and speaking teaching at home and abroad; The third chapter is the research design, including research questions, objects, methods and process; The fourth chapter is the analysis and discussion of research results, mainly presenting the analysis of questionnaire, test and interview results; The fifth chapter is the conclusion, which discusses the main findings, limitations and suggestions for the further research.
