Modern information technology, represented by multimedia and the Internet, has had a subtle influence on human beings. The way people live and learn has also changed with the development of science and technology. The Compulsory Education English New Curriculum Standards(2011)states that the task of English courses in the basic education stage is to enable students to master certain basic knowledge of English, including listening, speaking, reading and writing skills,to form a certain comprehensive language application ability,to stimulate and cultivate students' interest in English,to enable students to build self-confidence,to develop good learning habits and form effective learning strategies, etc and lay a good foundation for their lifelong learning and development. However,in the actual teaching of English in rural primary schools in our country, although they have the conditions for information-based teaching, teachers usually pay more attention to the transmission of language knowledge and the development of knowledge levels and the cultivation of reading and writing skills, ignoring the teaching of listening and speaking. This lack of attention has led to students' poor listening and speaking skills.Coupled with the unreasonable and inadequate use of information technology equipment,English listening and speaking teaching has become dull and boring, and students' interest in English learning cannot be stimulated and thus the comprehensive use of language skills cannot be effectively improved.Based on the Krashen's Input Hypothesis Theory,Swain's Output Hypothesis Theory,Constructivism Learning Theory and Educational Information Theory, the thesis mainly takes the development of primary schools English listening and speaking abilities supported by information technology as the starting point and studies how to better apply information technology to English listening and speaking teaching in rural primary schools. The author proposes strategy for creating information-based teaching situations, strategy for integrating multimedia teaching resources, strategy for life-oriented and practical teaching contents and strategy for integrating “prediction-listening-retelling-interaction” which are used to be applied to the teaching of English listening and speaking in primary schools supported by information technology. The author selected two classes for five years to conduct experiments in the rural area school of Zhuanghe,of which one class is an experimental class and another is a control class. In the experimental class, the application of information technology to English listening and speaking teaching improve students' learning initiative, interest and enhance students' English listening and speaking ability, while the traditional teaching model is still used in control class.Through the adjustment of teaching strategies, students' learning ability is improved. The results of the research in this article will provide constructive suggestions for the study of the application of information technology in English listening and speaking teaching in rural primary schools and at the same time provide some reference forteachers in rural primary English teaching to improve teaching strategies.Although the experimental results are within expectation, there are still many problems remaining to be solved. The writer will continue to improve in future teaching practice, thus enrich Foreign Language Teaching Theory and Practice.
