Referring to Corder’s error analysis steps, this paper counts and analyses the errors of HSK three-level commonly used Chinese characters written by Indian MBBS students of Grade 2017 in Southeast University in the first year, from stroke(stroke deformation, stroke loss and increase, stroke combination relationship, stroke disconnection and miscellaneous, stroke replacement),component(component loss and increase, component combination relationship, component replacement)and wrongly written characters. This paper summarizes the number and proportion of common errors of students, and finds that in the primary stage, there are more errors in strokes, but fewer errors in wrongly written characters, and the types of errors are concentrated and fossilized. At the same time, through the relevant error correction exercises,we study the students’ ability to diagnose errors, and find that students are very sensitive to the types of errors, but they can not correct themselves. In addition, through two stages of "delayed transcription" experimental model,it is found that students have a good grasp of the basic structure of Chinese characters and strong awareness of word formation. The internal number and common use of a Chinese character component is the key to memory.According to the investigation of students’ actual situation, combined with the author’s front-line teaching experience,it is found that only relying on error ontology analysis can not really solve the actual problem of Chinese character learning. Therefore,by means of questionnaires and personal interviews, this paper explores the causes of errors from the perspectives of students’ own mother tongue transfer, learning motivation, learning strategies and teachers’ teaching strategies, and analyses the universality and particularity of Chinese character errors and Chinese character learning of MBBS Indian students. From the perspective of mother tongue transfer, there are many Indian languages. The Indian alphabet, represented by Hindi, has the typical features of inflectional language. It is a vowel-attached alphabet with vines wrapped around the bracket, which affects the writing and component combination of strokes. From the point of view of learning motivation,MBBS medical students should be different from ordinary language students. The demand for medical motivation,Chinese learning motivation and Chinese character learning motivation shows a cliff-like decline. From the perspective of learning strategies,Indian students generally have a strong fear of Chinese characters, learning strategies are single and boring, unable to adapt to the long-term accumulation of Chinese learning. The main reasons are negative transfer of mother tongue, insufficient accumulation of Chinese characters, shaping of knowledge framework, cognitive bias of Chinese characters, lack of learning motivation, poor learning state, improper learning strategies, frustration of cultural adaptation and negative influence among groups. In order to find strategies to solve practical problems, this paper, based on error analysis method, not only explores the ontology of Chinese character errors, but also combines Chinese character learning with the whole Chinese language learningand the training of foreign students to think about the way suitable for Indian students to learn Chinese characters.
