On The Formal Language In David Hockney's Portrait Painting

David Hockney was active as a highly recognizable artist from the middle of the last century to today.He first debuted as a Pop artist and has tried a variety of styles,the techniques are also varied.In addition to easel painting,his painting also include some photo collages and ipad works.The general summary can be said that he has gone from the initial abstract expressionist attempt to the final return to the concrete realistic painting.Most of the domestic research on David Hockney focuses on his early creation.This paper mainly begins with David Hockney's latest batch of portrait works as an example,analyzes the evolution of David Hockney's picture form language and style,by means of picture analysis and text narration,and compares with the painters of the same period,summarize the successful experience,and talk about the impact of Hockney's work on me.This article is divided into three parts.The first chapter is about the formation of David Hockney's painting style,which can not be separated from the influence of the Times on him.The second chapter is about the history of portraits painting and the formal language of David Hockney's latest portrait works,from three aspects of colour,modeling and composition to expound.The last part is to try to understand David Hockney's creative journey in combination with my personal creation experience,and talk about the inspiration that David Hockney's painting has brought to my artistic creation.
