An E-C Translation Report Based On Trados Computer Aided Translation

At present,the energy crisis and environmental security are common problems in the world.Electric vehicles,as an important way to solve energy consumption,resource shortage,environmental pollution,and other problems,have developed rapidly.The development prospect of electric vehicles mainly depends on the breakthrough of battery technology,and batteries are the key to the normal operation of electric vehicles.Therefore,research on electric vehicle batteries is necessary.China also strongly supports and develops electric vehicles.The translation of articles on batteries will help to understand the development of electric vehicle batteries in foreign countries and promote the development of electric vehicle battery technology in China.This report is based on the first two chapters of Electric Vehicle Battery Systems by Sandeep Dhameja as the source text,using Trados-aided translation software for translation practice.The purpose of this paper is to study the application of Trados-aided translation software in scientific and technological text translation,as well as its advantages and disadvantages in translation.In the report,the author describes in detail the whole process of applying Trados translation,and introduces the main modules of Trados software,including Translation Memory,Term Base,etc.Through specific cases,the author summarizes a series of problems and difficulties encountered in the process of translation,conducts a concrete analysis of these problems from the perspectives of lexical,syntactic and discourse with examples,and then summarizes the methods to deal with these problems.At the same time,it also points out the problems of Trados-aided translation software in the translation process,and gives corresponding treatment suggestions to improve the quality and efficiency of translation.According to the analysis of the report,the author found that although Trados-aided translation software has shortcomings,the translator could still quickly get familiar with the background knowled,ge of the original text in a short time through the parallel texts and term s provided by the TM and TB of Trados.The author objectively evaluates the Trados software from three aspects:translation efficiency,translation consistency and post-translation proofreading,and analyzes the advantages of Trados-aided translation software.As a translator,you must follow the pace of the times,learn to apply Trados and other CAT technologies,and combine Trados with human translation to improve translation efficiency and ensure translation quality.The author hopes that this report can not only give a reference for translators who translate such texts,but also further deepen people's correct understanding of computer-aided translation software.
