A Report On The Translation Of Parents' Perspectives On Parenting Styles And Disciplining Children With SDL Trados Studio 2014

As one type of academic text, academic report intends to illustrate discoveries of the research in a field and conduct academic exchange. In the context of globalization, more and more foreign academic texts come into China. Due to the increasing importance of academic communication, quality translations of foreign academic texts are in great demand. However, the study of academic translation is limited in China currently and the quality of academic translation is not satisfactory.Oriented to the practical problem of inadequate performance of academic translation, the present study will thus attempt to translate Parents' Perspectives on Parenting Styles and Disciplining Children with SDL Trados Studio 2014 and present an analysis based on the author's own experience of translating, so as to improve its efficiency and quality. Firstly, this study will provide an introduction of the background and objectives of the report, the translation project, text analysis and structure of the report. Secondly, it will make preparations before translation with the purpose of facilitating translation process and ensuring translation quality through selection of parallel texts, preparations for tools and references, and making translation schedule. Then it will illustrate the translation process in detail and present the reflections after translation including work efficiency of translator and quality control with SDL Trados Studio 2014. Furthermore, it will propose improvement measures on quality control apart from the help of the software. It will employ free translation, conversion, appropriate contextualized diction to improve translation quality at lexical level and repetition, reorganization, amplification at lexical level, and focus on coherence and cohesion at textual level. Lastly, it will end up with a conclusion of the report.It is hoped that this study will be of great significance both practically and theoretically. Practically, its findings will show that the efficiency and quality of academic translation can be improved when the translator uses SDL Trados Studio 2014 and adopts appropriate translation methods. Theoretically, it expects to promote the academic communication between China and the West.
