Zhouyi Hexagram Narrative Study

Zhouyi is an ancient book with a history of three thousand years.It was regarded as an important book in the spring and Autumn period.Since the Han Dynasty,Zhouyi has been listed as the first of The Five Classics,forming a kind of special knowledge.In Zhou Dynasty,divination was carried out at every important event,and the divination and the last part that had been fulfilled were systematically sorted out,that is,the hexagram of Zhouyi.The formation of Zhouyi originated from the divination activities in ancient times.As a method to speculate good and bad luck,it is a part of the superstition activities in ancient times.But Zhouyi infers good and bad according to the hexagram image and the hexagram words,and the way of thinking has rational factors.Zhouyi and its later philosophy of which gradually philosophized the Zhouyi,and Zhouyi became a guide to understanding the world.The purpose of this paper is to explore the philosophy and divination principle from the perspective of narrative.The first chapter is the narrative thinking of hexagrams.The hexagram mainly contains three kinds of thinking characteristics,namely symbolic thinking,concept of advocating "Middle" and causal logic,which are the three narrative thinking of each other.Through the analysis of these three kinds of thinking,we can roughly straighten out the narrative logic of the hexagram words,and have a preliminary understanding of the narrative of the hexagram from a macro perspective,which lays a foundation for further understanding.If the hexagram are compared to the human body,then the narrative thinking is the brain of the human body,which commands the operation of the whole body.The core of the symbolic thinking of hexagram is "Image".There are two meanings.First,is the things described by hexagram,then is the emblem of the things hexagram described.The principles of divination and philosophy in Zhouyi are based on these two kinds of "Image" and push all things in the world through image thinking activities such as analogy.Concept of advocating "Middle" is the principle of being impartial,treating and dealing with problems reasonably.Different narrative contents in the hexagram words correspond to different auspicious and ominous causes and consequences.The relationship between causes,effects and narrative contents is either hidden or obvious,or bright or dark,which is the content to be discussed in the causal logic section.The second chapter is the narrative content of hexagram.There are three kinds of narrative contents in the hexagram: marriage and love,war and sacrifice,business and agriculture.The narrative content of the hexagram is the most basic part of the hexagram words.The content of thinking and structure must be interpreted from the content.If the hexagram words are compared to human body,they are the flesh and blood of human body.The content of marriage and love includes the ancient marriage customs in Zhou Dynasty and the description of love life.There are some beautiful and rich words in it.In ancient times,war and sacrifice are inseparable.Before war,ancestors must be sacrificed.Therefore,war and sacrifice are stated together.Business travel and agriculture illustrate the broad picture of working people.These contents reflect the rich cultural spirit of people in Zhou Dynasty.The third chapter is the narrative structure of hexagram.The narrative structure of hexagram can be divided into three parts,that is,expression structure,plot structure and overall structure.This chapter deeply analyzes the structural relationship among the elements of hexagram.If the hexagram words are compared to human body,the narrative structure is equivalent to the skeleton of human body.Expression structure is divided into image level,natural level and social level.The most basic level of hexagram words is image level,which is the image described by language.The natural level refers to the category of natural law extended from the former,and the social level extends from natural law to social law.The plot structure can be divided into two parts: the narrative of continuous clues and the narrative of space-time transformation.The former strictly follows the time sequence of events,while the latter changes in time and space.Although the structure of the two is different,they are also to explain the world view in the hexagram.There are two problems in the study of the whole structure,that is,the relationship between hexagram and the narrative theme of hexagram.Each state in a hexagram is relatively independent,but the six states is a closely related,they are dominated by a specific theme and serve this theme.The relationship between the themes of each hexagram is similar to this.
