In Chinese classroom,teachers’ commendatory speech evaluation is an indispensable part throughout the whole teaching activity.It mainly refers to the value judgment of teachers’ affirmation,praise and appreciation to students’ answer effect,learning attitude,classroom behavior performance,homework completion and other aspects in teaching.It plays an irreplaceable role in stimulating students’ learning,stimulating their interest in learning and shaping their healthy physical and mental development.By observing the Chinese classroom teaching of 13 teachers in Indonesia wenqiao trilingual school,the author transcribed and recorded typical cases in the teaching process of 41 classes with a total of 1640 minutes.A questionnaire survey was conducted among 310 students in the middle school,and the 13 Chinese teachers were interviewed.Based on the results of classroom observation,questionnaire analysis and interview,the following conclusions are drawn.Firstly,Chinese teachers’ speech evaluation of praise in class can be divided into six categories according to the content,object,form,nature,attribution and effect of praise.Secondly,the concrete degree,authenticity,differentiation,occurrence frequency and attribution style of Chinese teachers’ praise speech evaluation affect the effect of praise.Third,the main problems in Chinese teachers’ classroom praise are that the content is not specific,the content or emotion is not true,the praise that pays attention to the result is more than the praise that pays attention to the learning process,the frequency is low or high and the distinction is not obvious.The main reasons for the above problems are the lack of teaching experience,the lack of listening skills,the lack of a thorough understanding of students,and the lack of relevant professional.In addition,Indonesian students’ learning characteristics,class habits and self-discipline are also part of the problem.Based on the above research,this paper summarizes the role of teachers’ commendatory speech evaluation in arousing students’ learning enthusiasm,optimizing the classroom atmosphere,and establishing a good teacher-student relationship,and puts forward the principles and standards that teachers should follow in implementing commendatory speech behavior.The four principles are: procedural,developmental,pluralistic and ethical.The evaluation criteria are illustrated by the categories of praise behavior summarized in this paper.
