The commodity and currency affect people's daily life in many ways and they have kept changing in the process of history. As the global economy has become more interconnected, the effects of new economic phenomena have been more far-reaching.The Swiss Professor of Economics and Finance,Dr.Torsten Dennin published his first English book From Tulips to Bitcoins: A History of Fortunes Made and Lost in Commodity Markets, which tells the major economic events and phenomena in the global commodity and cryptocurrency markets in the past nearly 400 years. The book reveals the real reasons for these market events and could help the reader better prepare for future change of the markets. As the book is a popular text of economics, its narrative style and choice of words have the characteristics of both the economic text and the literary text.Based on the skopos theory, the translator discusses the problems in the process of translation and the solutions in terms of the lexical level, syntactic level and textual level, which include the economic terms and foreign words, short and long sentences and the coherence problem in the text. The translation report consists of four parts: task description, process description, case study and conclusion. The task description part introduces the selected source text and the author, the characteristics of the source text and the significance of the translation project. The process description mainly describes the pre-translation preparation and the plan of finishing the project.Case study discusses the skopos theory and analyzes the problems that the translator encountered in the translation process and the corresponding translation methods. The fourth part summarizes the findings in the translation project of the economic text.
