Measuring adjectives refer to adjectives that describe the measurement of things,such as "high,low,long,short,large,small,fast and slow." They both appear as words in Chinese and exist as morphemes in a large number of disyllabic compounds.While in the teaching and research of Chinese as a foreign language,words are often emphasized rather than morphemes.Due to the high frequency of measuring adjectives,the morpheme meanings of these words are very complicated.It is difficult to deeply solve the teaching and acquisition problems of measuring morphemes by focusing only on the words.So this paper studies the combination of measuring adjectives and morphemes in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.By investigating the presentation of the meanings of the measuring morphemes,collating the meaning system of the morphemes,and comparing Chinese and English,this paper concludes that: First,the meanings of the most disyllabic compounds with measuring morphemes can be inferred from the morphemes;Second,in the system of morpheme meanings,the seemingly unrelated compounds with the same measuring morpheme can be grouped together by the morpheme meaning;The third is that although there are measuring adjectives in both Chinese and English,they are comparable in words of measuring meanings and only a few at the level of morpheme meanings.Based on the ontological investigation,this study mainly discusses the teaching of measuring adjectives and morphemes in Chinese as a foreign language from the perspective ofmorpheme theory and semantic field theory.To be more specific,the theory of morpheme teaching focuses on the teaching method from morphemes to disyllabic compounds based on the system of morpheme meanings;The theory of semantic field teaching focuses on clustering disyllabic words from morphemes to discuss the teaching method from disyllabic compounds to disyllabic compounds.There are both connections and differences between the teaching of Chinese and Chinese as a foreign language.The teaching of measuring adjectives and morphemes in Chinese as a foreign language should not only make full use of the correspondence between measuring adjectives in different languages,but also attach great importance to the influence of measuring words in other languages on measuring adjectives and morphemes acquisition in Chinese.
