According to Professor Lu Jianming's theory,monosyllabic measuring adjectives have the following semantic features: [+metrics].This thesis on the basis of theories of scholars in the relating fields,selects thirteen groups of monosyllabic measuring adjectives,namely “long /short” “wide/narrow”“capacious/cabined” “big/small” “much/less” “tall/short/dwarf”“deep/shallow” “thick/thin” “heavy/light” “strong/weak” “coarse/thin”“fast/slow” “far/near”,as the object of study.Relevant reference books and corpus are used.At the same time,it uses several studying methods,such as the literature research method,corpus analysis,description and explanation and describes about features of word meaning,combination and syntax in detail.Besides,it discusses the errors made by international students to make the international education of Chinese language of monosyllabic measuring adjectives develop in a better direction.The main content of this paper is divided into several parts:The first part is the introduction.This part mainly introduces the purpose and significance of the study,the summary and study methods of the monosyllabic measuring adjectives,and the source of corpus.The second part is word meaning features and the combination of monosyllabic measuring adjectives,which can be divided into three categories: word meaning features and the combination of monosyllabic positive measuring adjectives,word meaning features and the combination of monosyllabic negative measuring adjectives,and the combination between these two kinds.The third part is the syntactic situation of the monosyllabic measuring adjectives,which can be divided into two categories: syntactic features and sentence patterns.The fourth part introduces errors of monosyllabic measuring adjectives.the author introduces the types,causes and teaching suggestions of monosyllabic measuring adjectives learned by foreign students.The fifth part introduces the conclusion.It concludes the contents and innovation of this paper,points out the shortcoming of this paper.
