Women's education is an integral part of ancient Roman education.Studying the education of ancient Roman girls will help us to understand the development of ancient Roman education more comprehensively.Based on this, the author attempts to explore the premarital education of ancient Roman girls from the aspects of educational objectives, methods and contents by dividing different classes on the basis of previous studies.Education in ancient Rome has a very distinct class and elite nature, and education is a symbol of identity and status. The noble girls in the upper class have more opportunities to receive education than the girls in the lower class because of their prominent origins and rich families. But the main way of receiving education is family education, supplemented by religious education and game education. The main content of education is to teach traditional morality and admonition,so that they can become qualified wives and ideal mothers in the future,so as to continue the glory of the family.Because of the prevalence of early marriage, even girls in the upper class cannot receive higher education than boys. The common girls in the middle and lower classes of Rome usually receive the primary school education until they get married, but only a few people can receive the education.Because of their poor family, most girls can only learn basic life skills from their parents at home. For girls from poor families and slave girls, school education is an unattainable thing. They can only learn various vocational skills as apprentices and reduce the economic burden for families as child laborers. The emergence of child labor is a reflection of the Roman society's education system which can‘t meet the needs of most people.
