With the rapid development of Electrical Engineering, more and more papers in this discipline have been published and exchanges in the field between home and aboard have increased dramatically. The translation of Electrical Engineering papers can help professionals to acquire frontier information in the field and thus it is of some significance to professionals in this field.Source text of translated papers are taken from IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics. Electrical Engineering papers are formal, professional and accurate and with a large quantity of technical terms, abbreviations, nominalized structures, long and complicated sentences and passive voice sentences. Under the guidance of Functional Equivalence, the author uses conversion, amplification and expansion to translate nominalized structures. To reach functional equivalence in syntactical level, different features between English and Chinese are figured out and several translation methods are taken to achieve functional equivalence. Because of the distinction between two different languages, the equivalence of words and sentences can’t surely result in equivalence in discourse. So when translating from the original text, some of the conjunctions is transferred into the hidden logic in the translated texts. Also demonstrative pronouns and conjunctions are used to achieve cohesion and coherence.Because the research on Electrical Engineering translation is quite limited at present and the research on Electrical Engineering is very meaningful, the author believes more researches should be done to enhance the quality of translated text.
