Research On Shanghai Children’s Child Care Association In Wartime(1938-1945)

The first chapter discusses the historical background,the process and the development of Chen Heqin’s founding of the Shanghai Children’s Childcare Association,starting from the historical background that a large number of children in Shanghai are in urgent need of relief after the outbreak of the War of Resistance.After the establishment of the Shanghai Child Care Association in June 1938,to September 1938,a total of 10 newsboy schools were established to accommodate more than 400 newsboys.At the end of 1939,because the Newsboy School organized the Anti-Japanese War,it was forced to suspend its operations under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry and Bureau.In April 1936,the Conservation Society created a child care institution.By the end of the War of Resistance,it had accommodated more than 100 children.In 1953,the Shanghai Childcare Center was taken over by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government.The second chapter discusses the organization and operation of Shanghai Child Care Association.In terms of institutional setting,the association has established a board of directors and four offices,and the childcare institution affiliated to the conservation committee adopts the system of directors,and has three offices under the council.In terms of funds,the Conservation Society conducts internal and external fundraising activities to raise funds.In the selection and training of personnel,the management staff of the Conservation Society have received higher education,and they have made achievements in the education of children.The Conservation Society has passed strict selection,and the selected teachers also have good professional level and social practice experience.The third chapter discusses and evaluates the child rescue work of Shanghai Children’s Insurance.Newsboy School offers a complete teaching curriculum to improve the knowledge of newsboy culture,cultivate a sound personality,and develop patriotism education in teaching.Conservation will carry out work from the aspects of diet,health care and education to make children grow up physically and mentally.At the same time,the nursery will improve the situation of child labor through investigation,research and publicity.Under the difficult conditions during the Anti-Japanese War,the Conservation Society carried out assistance for the difficult children,and made important contributions in newsboy education,childcare,and patriotism education.
