Currently,the visually impaired people in China are the largest groups of disabled people except for physical,hearing and multiple disabilities.With the concern for the visual impairments and the thought of equity,this thesis takes the historical development and changes of the music life for the blind in China for thousands of years as the theme,in the way of combining historical data combing and status investigation to try to reproduce the historical context of the development for this challenged group in their music lives in China systematically and objectively.It aims to to deepen the understanding and respect for the blind from all levels of people in the society,promoting the reformation and development of special music education and employment for visually impaired people in China.This article studies the music life of visually impaired groups in three parts respectively: ancient,modern and contemporary.The introduction mainly elaborates the background and significance of the dissertation,research status and methods.In the first part,the author expounds the development of blind musicians in ancient times,focusing on the rise and fall of blind music officers and musical activities.After the ceremony collapsed,the blind music officer entered the folk.Because its historical materials are very limited,the author have to find the traces of the blind people from historical literatures and folk-custom culture to analyze its social and living status.In the second part,the author explains the music life of the visual impairments in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period.It discusses the development of special music education in the above two stages,listing the music activities and musical contributions of the visually impaired musicians such as "GU JI" and Hua Yanjun who are regarded as representative of this period.In the third part,the author mainly summarizes the music life of contemporary visually impaired people in China.First,it briefly illustrates the current education and employment status of the visually impaired,and then investigates and analyzes both of the special music education and the music relevant employment of the visually impaired.Finally,the dissertation takes legal policies,financial supports and social recognition into consideration and put forward referable suggestions.
