The concept of barrier-free design began in 1974,and with the development of The Times,targeted design for different people has been gradually carried out.By 2021,there are more than 17 million visually impaired people in China,among whom more than 8 million are completely blind.Behind the huge number of visually impaired people,the needs of "survival" and "life" are becoming increasingly prominent.Research on product design,facility design and landscape design for visually impaired people is increasing year by year and becoming increasingly mature.As a bridge connecting the public and art,how to help visually impaired people find the possibility of equality in art and get psychological compensation is of great significance.From the perspective of public art,this paper analyzes the psychological characteristics,psychological needs and problems faced by visually impaired people.Taking their spatial cognition as the starting point,this paper expounds related concepts and theories of visually impaired people,clears up theoretical misunderstandings and provides theoretical support for the paper.With the multidisciplinary perspective as the breakthrough point,this paper analyzes the current situation and problems of barrier-free design for visually impaired people,finds out the commonalities,and then returns to the perspective of public art to evaluate and analyze cases,focusing on the application of barrier-free design in the field of public art.In view of the design status quo and related problems described above,the multi-sensory design method is proposed.Based on the concept of multi-direction interaction,the sensory experience cases using touch,hearing and smell are analyzed,and the significance of multi-sensory design is summarized and the connotation of design is reiterated.Based on this,the design of targeted accordingly analysis,starting from the public art value orientation of visually impaired people oriented,explore the barrier-free design the application principles of public art,from safety,interactivity,operation simplicity,dominant senses,generality,emotional point of view,this paper highlight the sense of touch,hearing,smell,and other more senses in the use of public art interactive work.Through preliminary research,the pain points of the crowd were further analyzed.Questionnaire survey and user portrait were used as the means to assist the overall design,and touch and hearing were used as the main sensory organs to enhance information reception and artistic experience.Paper closely geared to the needs of visually impaired people public art design research and thinking,for the visually impaired groups can be freedom,equality of appreciate art provide certain help,walking into the life of their dark through art,through artistic convey more understanding and care,and break the gap between visually impaired people with work experience,explore the art of barrier-free,help enrich the spiritual needs and self value realization,Rich forms of public art display,and then highlight the humanistic care of public art.In addition,the research of this paper not only provides artistic care for visually impaired people and builds a platform for communication and appreciation,but also hopes that more researchers and the public will pay attention to this group,promote social equality and warmth,and explore humanistic care beyond works.
