Special education is an important part of the overall education.Recent years in China have witnessed an increased attention paid to the development of special education,which has successively led to the introduction of relevant laws,regulations and policies.However,as a branch of special education,the development of visually impaired music education has been relatively slow,especially for the visually impaired students.Take extracurricular music activities in music education as an example.As one of the art groups for students,a school’s wind band can also be regarded as one version of extracurricular music activity.China’s efforts in promoting the development of extracurricular activities have been noticed for a long time and it can be traced back to the Republic of China.As one of the projects for the visually impaired school with characteristics in the southwest region,the school A’s wind band not only reflects the diversification of the school system,but also the diversification of the talent training model.Against such a backdrop and amid such a general trend,the research on the school wind band for the visually impaired not only meets the development requirements of today’s visually impaired music education,but also caters to the current development trend of visually impaired music education and extracurricular music activities.Music education in other schools for the visually impaired can thus serve as a reference.The author selects the visually impaired school in Southwest China as the research target.It mainly uses literature analysis,field investigation,interview,questionnaire survey,and case study methods.In this study,some leaders,music teachers and students of the visually impaired wind orchestra were interviewed,and the common problems in the training of the visually impaired wind orchestra were investigated and studied.On the basis of research,the problems in the training of the visually impaired students band and their solutions,which can provide useful references for the development of extracurricular music activities in visually impaired schools in other regions of China,and cast some light on further improvement of visually impaired music education in the whole country.This paper is divided into three parts: introduction,body,conclusion and implications.The first part is introduction.It elaborates on reasons of why the topic is selected,its significance,current situation of it,relevant concepts and research methods.The second part consists of three chapters.The first chapter is an overview of education for the visually impaired students,which discusses the development course of education for visual impairment in China,the value and significance of music education in this field,and the physical and mental characteristics of students with visual impairment.The second chapter introduces the case study of a visually impaired school in Southwestern Region A.It explains the classroom music teaching and extracurricular music activities of the school in the form of curriculum and organization from the basic situation of the school,elaborate the characteristics.Finally,we introduce the basic situation of the wind band for the visually impaired,and explore the development track of the wind band from the history of its establishment;study the operating mechanism of the school wind band for the visually impaired from the aspects of attendance system,rehearsal discipline,activity arrangement,orchestra system,etc.Secondly,from the level of school administrators,analyze and research the visually impaired school symphony band to find the fundamental driving force for the successful formation of the symphony band.Finally,from the composition of the visually impaired school wind band,teachers,students,and parents from these three aspects,look at the interaction and relationship between them and the wind band,and comprehensively analyze the composition of the visually impaired school wind band.The third chapter is a survey of common problems and solutions in the training of school wind bands for the visually impaired.From the common problems in the training of the school wind band of the visually impaired,and the solutions to the problems and solutions of the teachers and students of the school wind band of the visually impaired school,it is explained from the aspects of music theory learning,wind band music performance learning,and orchestra cooperation.Finally,the school wind band of the visually impaired mainly focuses on summary of problems and solutions.The third part of the paper is the chapter four.With summary and analysis of the results,this paper finds out the common problems and solutions in the training of the concert band of the visually impaired schools,analyzes the reasons for its success,and gives inspiration to music education and special education from the concert band of the visually impaired schools,and tries to put forward some constructive suggestions,hoping to provide some references for the music education of the visually impaired.
