| Writing about music is one of the main products of the combination of literature and music.It was born and flourished in the background of Romanticism.It occupied an important and special corner of the development of romantic music in the form of text,and formed a considerable scale after composers joined in.Among many romantic composers who wrote writings about music,Schumann,Liszt,Berlioz and Wagner were all on the list.Among them,Wagner covered the most extensive types of the writings,including music criticism,music essays,and music-related letters and diaries.His ideas in the text have unique characteristics,whether depth or breadth,have profound research value.This thesis is divided into four chapters.The first chapter focuses on the social background,corresponding to the word "context" in the title of the paper.It mainly discusses the music and literature under the Romanticism trend of the 19 th century,and explores the process from Romanticism literature to Romanticism music.The second and third chapters correspond to the word "text" in the title,based on Wagner's writing.The second chapter will focus on the artistic ideas in Wagner's writings,including the national principles in his words and the perspectives of the absolute music and the program music.The third chapter will focus on the musical drama thoughts of Wagner,mainly including the role of revolution,ancient Greek culture and anti-christ factors on his musical drama thoughts,and the discussion on the relationship between music and drama.The fourth chapter,corresponding to the "meaning" in the title,will focus on the social and artistic functions of writings about music,including not only the meaning of Wagner's words,but also the influence of romantic musicians' words on the time and future generations,which will be expounded in combination with the musical words of Schumann,Liszt and other musicians.This includes correcting and guiding the sociocultural environment and laying the foundation for later music criticism. |
