Grassroots public security organs are the cornerstone of public security career and the foundation in constructing and strengthening the police force.General Secretary,Xi Jinping,pointed out in a National Public Security Work Conference that we shall set up an orientation towards the grassroots and the foundation.The grassroots police officers are defenders of national and social harmony and stability as the actual executors of grassroots public security work.They are also pioneers that build up the force of the masses and an important component of the basic work of the public security grassroots.Work performance is a direct manifestation of the executive force and effectiveness of grassroots police officers.Improving the work performance of grassroots police officers is important guarantees for strengthening the power,stimulating the vigor and improving the effectiveness of the grassroots.A personality trait is the steady and unified psychological structure guiding individual behaviors in different time and space situations.This paper conforms to the law of “What is implicit inside will take shape outside.It takes general self-efficacy as the medium in exploring the mechanism of implicit personality traits acting on the external work performance and sorting out the micro psychological foundation affecting the work performance of grassroots police forces.This paper draws the following conclusions through empirical research:First of all,some personality trait factors have a significant impact on the work performance of grassroots police officers.Explicitly,extroversion,agreeableness,and conscientiousness have a significant positive impact on task and contextual performance;neuroticism has a significant negative impact on task and contextual performance;openness has no impact on either factor of work performance.Secondly,other personality trait factors have a significant impact on the general selfefficacy of grassroots police officers.Specifically,extroversion,openness,and conscientiousness have a significant positive impact on the self-efficacy of grassroots police officers;neuroticism has a significant negative impact on self-efficacy;agreeableness has no impact on this aspect.Thirdly,the self-efficacy of grassroots police officers has acted like a complete mediation force between extroversion and task performance;a partial mediation force between conscientiousness,neuroticism and task performance;a complete mediation force between neuroticism and contextual performance;and a partial mediation force between extroversion,conscientiousness and contextual performance.This research discloses the influence of the personality traits of grassroots police officers on their work performance and their relationship.It also explores the mediation force of generalself-efficacy.Its value at the individual level lies in enabling police officers to have a deep understanding of the starting point of their own thinking and behaviors,stimulating their passion in reviewing and carving their personality,so as to further understand and control their own emotions,cultivate their self-confidence and bring new perspectives at work and in life.In terms of constructing the public security force,in order to improve the overall qualities and work performance of the grassroots public security force the following suggestions are proposed based on the summary and generalization of research conclusions and the actual condition of public security work:(1)set up a human-oriented concept of public security management;(2)establish scientific psychological election standards;(3)emphasizing the cultivation of general self-efficacy in grassroots civil police;(4)perfect the system of psychological consultation;(5)set up a complete psychological training system.
