Research On Thought Of Autonomy Of Literature Of Qian Zhongshu

Since ancient times,China has a tradition of treating literature as a political vassal.The idea that literature is a political vassal has always been the mainstream of literary history.In modern China,this concept has not been changed fundamentally and heteronomy of Literature has always occupied the dominant position.Based on this social reality,Qian Zhongshu advocates the thought of autonomy of literature and defends the independence of literature.Qian Zhongshu's thought of autonomy of literature is mainly embodied in three aspects: the understanding of the "definite sign" of literature,objecting utilitarianism of literature and insisting on criticizing literature from the perspective of literariness.First of all,in terms of the definite sign of literature,in order to free literature from politics,Qian Zhongshu claims that literature is a manifestation of the psychology of the times like politics and society.In order to highlight the uniqueness of literature as a language art,he distinguishes literature from Zen,painting,and music.second,Qian Zhongshu opposes instrumental views of literature.In order to manifest his attitude to literature,he criticizes the view of "literature is use for convey concept" and the view of "literature is use for express emotion" which all emphasize the usefulness of literature.In the end,related to his thought of autonomy of literature closely,Qian Zhongshu insist on literariness as a standard for measuring the value of literature in literary criticism,and express dissatisfaction for views that measuring the value of literature according to external element of literature in history of Chinese literature.Qian Zhongshu believes that it is incorrect to criticize literary works based on social status or fame of author or subject of works,because these standards are not related to literature.Qian Zhongshu's thought of Autonomy of Literature is valuable in a context that literature is considered as a tool,and it inspires us not only need to attach importance to law of literature but also need to place literature in social context when we develop literature.At the same time,the academic pattern of Qian Zhongshu provides a reference for constructing Chinese modern theory of literature.
