Ling Yuan shadow puppetry is one of the intangible cultural heritage that the country attaches great importance to.It is a highly comprehensive art and was listed as a world-class intangible cultural heritage project in 2014.After entering the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics,modern and new industries frequently appeared.Traditional culture could not meet the aesthetic needs of modern people and was severely impacted by modern culture.In addition,the passing away of old artists made inheritance and audience increasingly scarce,which limited the inheritance and development of Ling Yuan shadow puppetry.Aiming at this problem,this paper attempts to take the modeling language of Ling Yuan shadow puppetry as the starting point,inherit and carry forward the art of Ling Yuan shadow puppetry,publicize traditional culture,and improve its dissemination,protection and development.The perspective of this paper is shadow puppetry art in intangible cultural heritage.Through consulting a large number of materials,I have learned the origin,spread and distribution of Chinese shadow puppetry and felt its artistic charm.Ling Yuan shadow play,a representative shadow play in China,was selected as the main research object.Through field interviews,textual research and reference,the essence was extracted.The historical and cultural background of Ling Yuan shadow play was analyzed,including its historical origin,geographical location,distribution area and performance status.Based on the analysis of the making and modeling characteristics of Ling Yuan shadow puppetry,the artistic styles of shape,line,color and singing in its modeling language are summarized.Then explore the formation of the development of Chinese animation experience four stages,brilliant,decline and renewal,and understand to the glory of Chinese animation and Renaissance mainly derived from rooted in national culture,and Chinese animation and combined with the strength of the national culture also is not big enough,so the deep mining of national culture in our country,seek inspiration of creation in the folk art is the development direction of the current animation creation and development.Therefore,a series of animated characters highlighting the modeling language of Ling Yuan shadow play were designed by using the experimental method(photoshop and hand-painted board)through the organic combination of Ling Yuan shadow play and Chinese animation,in an attempt to alleviate the existing problems of the two.Shadow puppetry and animation are similar in modeling features,both of which pursue a high degree of presupposition of image.The application of the modeling language of Ling Yuan shadow puppetry in the design of cartoon characters is to endows the new life of Ling Yuan shadow puppetry with animation,which promotes the traditional culture.Due to the limitations of Ling Yuan shadow puppetry,its communication mode is limited.As a communication medium and performance platform to spread Ling Yuan shadow puppetry culture,cartoon characters play a role in spreading,protecting and developing Ling Yuan shadow puppetry culture.In addition,for animation,the national culture in shadow puppetry art well complements the lack of ethnic elements in modern animation.In a word,the reasonable combination of shadow puppetry and animation can make the two complement each other and jointly develop towards a better direction.
