On Challenges In Translating Terminologies And Proposed Solutions

As translation projects are increasingly expected to be completed within a rather limited period of time and deliver quality translations at the same time,the translation of technical terms,which plays a crucial part in the entire project,has drawn more attention from scholars and translators.It can be safely said that whether terminology is properly translated to some extent can make or break the whole project.By studying the translation of terminology in the global city translation project and relevant articles,this thesis explores the main problems facing the translation of technical terms,namely definition of terminology,mistranslation of terminology,improper translation of terminology,and comes up with four corresponding translation strategies,namely translation of terminology based on standard and terminology consciousness,translation of terminology based on a mature process,translation of terminology based on web search engine,and translation of terminology based on cohesion and coherence.
