This article focuses on the reformulation strategy in Chinese-Japanese consecutive interpretation.Taking the interview of Dr.Zhang Wenhong by the People's Daily in which the author participated as a case, this paper analyzes the inappropriate use of reformulation strategy in Chinese-Japanese consecutive interpretation. The interview was an impromptu speech without a script, with obvious colloquial characteristics and fast speaking speed. In this thesis,I transliterated and analyzed the source language and target language, and summarized 3 types of misuses in reformulation strategy, including excessively omitted and compressed output information, output information's semantic deviations, and main idea capturing errors. Then I analyzed these three situations. After analyzing the misuse of reformulation strategy,I summarized three ability factors related to the misuse, including the ability to capture and highlight the main information, the ability to eliminate interference from the form of source language, and the flexibility to deal with sentence structures and highlight the logical relationships.Aiming at those three abilities,I proposed 4 ability training methods:monolingual interpretation, identify the skeleton recognition, hands up if you hear a link, and back-interpretate training in sight inpertretaion.
