Kimberly Clark India Private Limited seeks approval to purchase a HCH CD diaper pants production line--ND32 from KC Nanjing Mill for installation at the Pune Mill,India.The reporter undertook the on-site technical interpreting project for the Chinese workers,Indian engineers and KC Nanjing Mill engineers,from whom she received positive feedback.The report elaborates on the major difficulties and analysis of the causes.The reporter was confronted with 4 major difficulties: limited technical terminology and expertise,tension of communication between two parties,Indian accent and environmental noise.By combining theories and other interpreters' successful experiences,solutions have been put forward to address these challenges.These solutions include making sufficient preparations before the project,liaison interpreting as mediation,strategies to cope with Indian accent and adopting non-verbal method.These solutions will be elaborated in the report with typical examples in hope that they can enlighten interpreters who are also facing similar difficulties.
