A Study About The Discourse Relevance And Ayntax-Semantics Of The Adverb "QueShi"(??)

Based on the theory of semantic grammar,this thesis is a study in the adverb“QueShi”(??).By researching the corpus of Center for Chinese Linguistics PUK and BLCU Corpus Center,and summarizing the research achievements of previous researchers,this thesis try to study the discourse relevance as well as the syntax-semantics of the adverd“QueShi”(??)in turn.First of all,from cognitive perspective,this thesis analyses the cognitive presupposition of“QueShi”(??)is the background information which is“uncertain and to-be-proved”.The presupposition triggers the verification process and produces a faithful modality after the verification and explanation.Based on the analysis of corpus,we find the“Background information sentence”“Explanation and proof sentence”and“Proven and affirmative sentence”form the discourse relevance.We check the semantic features of the relevance components of“QueShi”(??)sentences by typical formal markers and outline the whole discourse relevance of“QueShi”(??)in the end.Secondly,from the distribution of complex sentences,the thesis describes the distribution of“QueShi”(??)in three types of complex sentences.Under the influence of the discourse relevance of“Proven and affirmative”,it requires that the related complex sentence proposition has the characteristics of“proposition referential”and“conclusion definitive”.Analyzing the multi-sentences of“QueShi”(??)with analytic hierarchy process,we find that the sentence of“QueShi”(??)is contained in the larger causal relevance,which show the internal logic of“Know the cause and believe the result”.Thirdly,from the perspective of the distribution in single sentence,the thesis describes the sentence category selection and syntactic position of“QueShi”(??).It selects the declarative sentence?the non-interrogative sentence and the factual exclamatory sentence,which reflects the requirement of“proposition referential”.Through the description of syntactic position,we can see that in different syntactic positions,the scope,semantic orientation and focus of“QueShi”(??)change accordingly,resulting different effects of language expression.Finally,through the co-occurrence components of“QueShi”(??),we can extract its semantic meaning.Conversely,we can test its semantic meaning according to the elements of exclusive co-occurrence.After the corpus survey,we concluded that the co-occurrence components in front of“QueShi”(??)such as verbs,adverbs and interjections,have the characteristics of“being explained and known”,and the components appearing at the back have the characteristics of“faithful and affirmative”.Then,we can extract the semantics of“QueShi”(??)is“the uncertain background information is affirmative after verification and explanation”.At last,we test the semantics by the anaphora components,typical markers,adverbs and interjections which can't occur with“QueShi”(??).
