Translation Strategies On Coherence In Social Science Texts From The Perspective Of Discourse Cohesion Theory

The development of narratology has attracted much attention in the relevant filed.At the same time,the development of digital technology and electronic technology has made great changes in narrative mode.In particular,narrative genre,cross-text and cross-media narratology keep pace with the times,which is worthy of thinking and further research.Compared with the development of narratology in western developed countries,the development of narratology in China has a certain gap,thus introducing the latest theoretical achievements is a good way to promote the development of narratology in China.During the process,the translation is like a bridge connecting western and Chinese knowledge about narratology,so it is put to an important position.For translators,it is a good try to both translate the latest work from western countries and learn a lot about narratology.The book Narrative: The Basics was written by Bronwyn Thomas,a famous narrator at Bournemouth University in England.Chapter Seven,Eight and Nine the author have chose as source text in this report describe narrative genre,cross-media narratology and conclusion respectively.Based on the translation practice of three chapters,this report focuses on the translation strategies about coherence from the perspective of discourse cohesion theory in social science texts.Therefore,combining the author's practice with the theories developed by scholars,this thesis will analyze translation strategies on coherence in social science texts from the perspective of discourse cohesion theory,especially three aspects: translation of grammatical coherence,translation of semantic coherence translation and translation of logical coherence.This report is composed of six chapters.The project review,research methodology and the layout of this thesis are discussed in Chapter One.The task description including the background of the task and the significance of the task are discussed in Chapter Two.In Chapter Three,the author describes procedures of text translation,to make it clear,the procedures are as following,preparation before text translation,process in text translation and proofreading after text translation.Chapter Four mainly talks about theoretical framework,such as discourse coherence theory,what's coherence and cohesion,and the relation between them are also included.Chapter Five shows case study on coherence in social science text,such as translation of grammatical coherence,translation of semantic coherence and translation of logical coherence and points out details and classifications of above.Last but not the least,in Chapter Six,the author summarizes translation strategies,findings and limitations in this report.
