in the Republic of China,The study of the analects of Confucius has made rich and solid achievements in exegesis, emendation, discrimination of false and so on.In the numerous research works,Cheng Shude's "analects of Confucius" almost includes all kinds of research, and in the inheritance of pre-school,on the basis of the great achievements of predecessors,do not open a whole,self-realm.This paper studies Cheng Shude's analects of Confucius from the following three aspects:the First Chapter Discusses The formation and style of the analects of Confucius. On the basis of understanding Cheng's life course of study, the author focuses on Cheng's thought of "writing for life" in his collection and interpretation, and why he devoted nine years of his life to compiling the book in his later years, when he was in exile and suffering from a serious illness, and how it came to be published. At the same time, the author also analyzes Cheng's method and intention in compiling this book,as well as his academic thoughts and academic vision in cutting and arranging the materials The second chapter analyzes the contents and characteristics of the analects of Confucius from six aspects:Textual Research, textual criticism, textual criticism and annotation;exegesis and explanation; The inheritance and transcendence of the analects of Confucius.Liu's analects of Confucius has always been recognized as a refined and profound work, which represents the highest level of the old-style annotations of the analects of Confucius.Mr.Cheng,on the other hand, has fully collected and absorbed the research achievements made by the predecessors, and has broken through the exegesis style of "Ji Shi" and "Ji Zhu",and it's coming out in a whole new level. The Third Chapter Discusses The three shortcomings of Ji Shi on the premise of fully understanding it,that is,the style is mixed, the content is redundant, and the quotation is improper.Cheng Shude "analects of Confucius collection and interpretation" cited Bo Qia,the following note is also more desirable. In the three decades since the book was republished by the Zhonghua Book Company, many scholars have cited it.To be fair,Cheng's book is so vast, its citations so numerous, and its completion in sickness, that its impropriety is inevitable.First of all,as far as content and style are concerned, although Cheng Shu broke down the style of annotation in Qing Dynasty, and divided it into "textual research","phonetic reading"and "Textual Research",to "Jijie","ancient annotation before Tang Dynasty" and"Jizhu",then to "other solution","residual theory","invention" and "note" ten categories, but at the same time in the material selection and arrangement appears jumbled and complicated, and also makes the reader can not clearly distinguish the inheritance relationship between the various family notes.Secondly, through the case study in the book,we can see that Cheng Shude had a high opinion of Zhu Xi,however, the higher the opinion, the more careful the criticism will be.Cheng's criticism of Zhu Xi is usually based on exegesis, however, his criticism is not entirely unreasonable. Finally,in addition to the errors of the main text, there are also some errors in the bibliography, such as improper classification of books, confusion of the author's era,the author's name errors and so on.As a master of the theories and works of the analects of Confucius in the past dynasties, the analects is not only a complete and detailed compilation of the annotated materials of the analects of Confucius in the past dynasties,it is also a "new" work which bears Mr.Cheng Shude's academic thought and spirit and is born out of the previous research and has its own characteristics. The time when Cheng edited Ji Shi was not only a time when the older generation of intellectuals were in a miserable situation, but also a time when the whole Republic of China fell apart due to political changes. The writing of Ji Shi,or the problem it was intended to solve,it is Mr.Cheng Shude's response and concern for the Times as a scholar. Therefore,Cheng shude not only inherited his predecessors'academic tradition in the sense of literature and academic history, but also faced his own times as a scholar of the Republic of China. With such a indomitable will, the book is a unique combination of the academic spirit of awe-inspiring and solid academic work,is composed of the book's unique academic value. However,we still need to see the book to be perfect for future generations.
