Hua Guofeng In The Historical Transition Period (1976-1978)

Hua Guofeng was a keyman in the CPC history who lived in a crucial time.He was the successor which selected by Chairman Mao in his later years,and the only leader who had three top post of politic,party and military in one after Mao Zedong.But it was only two years and three months which was from 1976 to 1978.As we know,this two years when Hua Guofeng was as the leader in China.So we can say,there was not the formation of the Chinese characteristic socialism without the hardship of this two years.Hua Guofeng squashing the "Gang of Four" and hosted many important conferences.He set wrong things right and restored the order of the Party and national political life,organizing the carders and the masses to develop the whole work of economical constructing,disclosing and criticizing the crime of the "Gang of Four",and achieving the great achievement.He try to check people who were unjustly charged according with the requirement of the people.He also stressed on the work of economic and improved the recovery and development of the industrial and agricultural production rapidly.Education,scientific and cultural work began to normalize and diplomacy had new development with his improvement.But Hua Guofeng also had one of the biggest mistakes during the ruling,namely 1977 disposal of the so-called"counter-revolutionary rumours",according to Hua Guofeng "counter-revolutionary posters,should investigate" instructions,has issued a "about resolutely crack down on political rumors notice(i.e.,found in 1977 5 files)and the national railway work conference minutes(i.e.,found in 1977 6 files).Around in the instruction of 5,6 files,further investigate and arrest"rumor".To sum up,comrade Hua Guofeng in administration have merits and faults,but overall,his merits were greater than his mistakes.Hua Guofeng made his best effort on leading the disclosing the "Gang of Four" and the People to construct modern and powerful socialist state.Studying the role of Hua Guofeng in the historical transition period of the Party systematically,reassuring the historical status of Hua Guofeng in objective review and cast aside the traditional thinking pattern,and finding its modern values in the new angle.There are three parts in the paper.Firstly,it discusses squashing the "Gang of Four" from three aspects as the preparation process,the decisive process and the execution.In the second part,it concludes and narrates systematically the whole work during the Hua Guofeng leading period from these aspects such as checking the cases in which people were unjustly charged,setting wrong things right,recovering the industrial and agricultural production,continuation of the "left" errors and holding Two Whatevers.In the last part,the paper remarks objectively Hua Guofeng's merits and demerits in the historical transition period of the Party from the analysis of the former and the angle of the dialectical materialism.
