The New Generation Of Migrant Workers' Information Scarcity And Promotion During The Urbanization:Based On The Perspective Of Cultural Capital

The problem of migrant workers is a product of China's special social background.Nowadays,with the increase of national strength and the promotion of urbanization,the dilemma of the new generation of migrant workers' merging into the urban community has become increasingly prominent,which becomes one of the important issues in the process of building a harmonious socialist society.Currently,the new generation of migrant workers encountered many difficulties during the integration process to the city,and the lack of information is an important factor of them.Therefore,based on the perspective of cultural capital,the study analyzes the current situation of the new generation of migrant workers' information scarcity,and explores measures to enhance the stock of their cultural capital,hoping to make a contribution to migrant workers'urbanization.On the basis of cultural capital theory,combined with research purposes,the study constructs a theoretical framework and proposes the research hypothesis.This thesis adopts the following research methods:literature studies,questionnaires and interviews.Through the findings,the study analyses the current situation about the new generation of migrant workers' city integration and their cultural capital stock,what's more,this study also explores the characteristics of the migrant workers' cultural capital and the factors which influence the distribution of cultural capital.The major findings of the study are summarized as follows:Firstly,new generation of migrant workers' city integration is in the medium-low level.Secondly,at present,the new generation of migrant workers lacks cultural capital.What's more,the analysis result shows a significant positive correlation between the new generation of migrant workers' cultural capital and their urbanization.Last but not least,migrant workers,cultural capital is closely related to the structure of information,the way of gaining information,and some other factors.Those results draw a conclusion that the new generation of migrant workers are in the "information scarcity"situation.Based on what is mentioned above,this study comes up with strategies to enhance the cultural capital of the new generation of migrant workers from the perspective of the government,LIS information service organizations,employers and self-improvement,which aims at accelerating the pace of migrant workers' urban integration,and make it easier for migrant workers to realize their citizenship.
