Mass media and electoral politics have been closely related. In the late twentieth century, the new media began to impact the dominant position of traditional media, which had a profound impact on politics.Taiwan as one of the earliest area connecting the Internet, the overall Internet rate up to 80%.New media plays an increasingly important role in the political field of Taiwan.Election is the most influential political phenomenon and action in Taiwan. The prominent role of new media in Taiwan's political field is mainly in electoral politics. This article divided the election activities into web1.0 period(1994-2009)and web2.0 period(2010-2016),to illustrate the new media in the election politics in Taiwan with the development of new media technology and development.The"nine-in-one" election in 2014 was regarded as the first "network-dominated election"in Taiwan, which is enough to show that the involvement of new media has had a great impact on Taiwan's electoral politics. In the mediated political age,the new media is an important medium connecting voters and candidates/parties,its impact on electoral politics is achieved by political communication activities during the election. So this article tries to use Lasswell's"5W" model to explain the influence of new media to Taiwan's electoral politics from the perspective of political communication,In addition, the way of communication in the new media age broke the boundaries of time and space, the people on both sides of the Straits have the possibility to achieve interpersonal communication in the virtual space of new media, which helps both sides to deepen mutual understanding and emotional links. But it also brings cross-strait exchanges a new test which needs to use a more intelligent way to deal with. Finally, the role of any technology has two sides, which should be treated rationally.
