Problems And Countermeasures Of The Urban Grid Mana Gement

While many cities in China have kept growing for decades,China now has mange large cities and some are even supersized.The growth brings mass opportunities as well as serious challenges of providing social services,but the city management level fails to keep pace with the city development.The main reasons for that are due to out-dated and ineffective governance.Obviously,cities need more modern,productive and accountable governance.Under such background,this paper discusses the success case of applying the Urban Grid Management Mode(UGMM)in Beijing Dongcheng District,and then analyses the future trends of city management.This paper discusses other researches around the UGMM from all over the world as well.Last this paper examines and collects data from the case of Qingcun town in Shanghai Fengxian District,and further evaluates the UGMM's features,theories,existing issues and corresponding solutions.This paper has six chapters in summary.In the first chapter,it introduces the background for understanding how and why China has been implementing the UGMM.In the second chapter,it discusses the theories and features of UGMM.In the third chapter,it further discusses the development of UGMM by analysing the case of Qingcun town in Shanghai Fengxian District.In the third and fourth chapter,it examines the challenges in applying the UGMM and corresponding solutions based on the case of Qingcun town.In the fifth chapter,this paper summaries that the innovative mode of UGMM is facing many problems,but the UGMM will lead to a higher efficient level of social service.In conclusion,the UGMM can be served as the important framework for improving city management if the issues discussed in this paper could be effectively considered and tackled.
