Research On The Influence Of Intergenerational Support On The Welfare Of Elderly In Rural China

With the whole society aging faster,severe aging situation has caused a series of problems in the whole society,such as retirement,pension,population policy and so on.The study of the elderly welfare,in particular,has great significance for the protection of the rights and interests of the elderly and the improvement of the living standards of the elderly in this context.For the elderly in rural areas,in their old age is mainly dependent on the land endowment and family pension,but the land of the pension security function has been weakened.In this context,the most basic welfare needs of the elderly in the rural areas,to a large extent depend on the supply of family.The family characteristics of rural families,especially inter-generational relations,are the important factors affecting the welfare of the elderly.Firstly,this article combed social exchange theory,intergenerational exchange theory,feedback theory and classical social exchange and intergenerational relations,and summarized the existing research on intergenerational welfare and elderly social relations.Secondly,on the basis of previous studies,this paper analyzes the different categories and different flows of intergenerational support,and proposes the analysis framework.After that,using analytic hierarchy process,through five aspects of living conditions,health status,psychological status,leisure status and economic conditions,constructing a index system to evaluate the welfare of the elderly;then using the regression analysis to verify the significance of different intergenerational support and its combination in the welfare of the elderly.The results showed that there were significant positive relationship between the various categories of intergenerational support and the level of welfare for the elderly;emotional support,economic support and elder care given to the elderly care have substitution effect;and the old group is more obvious than young group on the impact of intergenerational support to elderly welfare.Finally,according to the conclusions of the study,the paper puts forward some policy suggestions to improve the welfare level of the elderly.The main innovation of this paper lies in:one is the systematic ideology,will examine the welfare as a whole variable,construct the evaluation index to measure the welfare of the elderly from multi dimension,and as a comprehensive study on the welfare of the elderly;two is the perspective of different price to support multi-dimensional and the combination effects on the welfare of the elderly.,and explore the substitution effect between different intergenerational support.
