Britain is the first industrialized country in the world, the industrial revolution brought a prosperous economy, but at the same time, there are many labor relations problems.Trade unions have become workers' organizations to maintain or improve the working living conditions of workers. In the development of trade unions, female workers and female members have been on the edge of the union, which has not changed until the conservative party was in power in 1979,then the union's attitude towards women from repulsion to welcome.Traditional trade unions mainly recruit male members to protect the interests of male workers? But they don't care about women problems.Men regard women as competitors, oppose female employment, refuse women to join trade unions. So women are very passive in the development of trade unions. In 1979,Britain's ruling party replaced the Labour party with the conservative party, changed the former Labour Party's attitude towards trade unions, and adopted a policy aimed at curbing the development of trade unions. As a result, the number of trade union members decreased rapidly and the scale of trade union decreased. In order to expand the size of female members and consolidate the status of trade unions, the trade union changed its strategy and actively provided special education and training for women, and advocacy measures such as establishing branch type women organization. The position of female members in trade unions has thus improved. This change depends not only on the improvement of the attitude of the trade unions towards women and the support of government policies, but also on the efforts of women themselves. However,it is only the first step in the long march to deal more effectively with the unfair treatment of women in their life and work, which is a long way to go.
