Public Participation In Politics And Its Influencing Factors

Since the 17th,expand citizens' orderly political participation as an important part of socialist reform in China to promote widely among the masses,the political participation of Chinese citizens form by passive participation at the beginning of the reform,the transition to open and independent type of political participation.Especially with the advent of the Internet era,it provides an important channel for the public to get political information,thus providing a platform for citizens to discuss politics and spontaneous organization of political activities.On the other hand,many scholars in China have noticed that the two ways of political participation show a trend of"parallelization",which is even faster than the former.In view of this situation,it is necessary to clarify what factors lead to the difference of public participation in the path of political participation,so as to further improve the communication system in the process of further deepening the construction of political institutionalization.According to the "mixed space theory",political participation can be divided into two types:"inviting" political participation and "inventive" political participation.The former refers to the government-led activities such as political elections,and the latter refers to the spontaneous political activities of citizens from the discussion of political issues to parade petitions.In this paper,I combine communication science,political psychology and sociology knowledge,and use two perspectives Logistic regression modeling from three perspectives:tools,psychology and structure to explore possible factors that influence different types of public participation using CSS2015 data.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The overall level of Chinese citizens' political participation has improved compared to the past,to invite political participation mainly accounted for 70.1%of the total participation;(2)The use of the Internet and the invention political participation behavior exist significant correlation with the increase in the frequency of Internet use.From the influence of Internet users and non-users of political participation factors,the use of the Internet age influence on the resolution of political participation of citizens,but the gender,education,income,social economic status and other structural factors and political efficacy still has significant influence on political participation and political tendency of invitation;(3)Political efficacy as one of the most important political psychological variables,regardless of the political participation of Internet users or non-users have a very significant impact:external political efficacy,increase the probability of invitation of citizen political participation.The internal political efficacy is significantly related to the invention of political participation,that is,the higher the citizens' awareness of their ability to participate in political activities,the greater the probability of engaging in inventive political participation.(4)Social capital,economic capital and cultural capital have significant correlation to the political participation of citizens.The institutional trust in social capital contributes most to the promotion of inviting participation probability.Economic capital is measured by citizens' absolute income and relative income.Absolute income growth has a significant impact on the participation of inviting political activities in non netizens,and there is a nonlinear correlation of "inverted U".In Internet users,the absolute income level is not related to the type of citizen's political participation.Relative income has a significant role in promoting inviting political participation in non netizens,but it has no significant influence in the group of netizens.Cultural capital is measured by the education level of respondents.In the netizens and non netizens,with the increase of education level,the probability of citizens participating in the invention of political activities is increased.Lastly,there's lack of the division and discussion about the different strength of"invented" political participation in theoretical choice.Meanwhile,the validity of explanatory variables and the bias of sample selection need to be further improved.
