The problem of Scottish independence is not only a manifestation of the issue of national identity in the United Kingdom, but also affects British identity. It has profound impact on the unification of Britain and its further development. From the perspective of national identity theory,Scotland's independence issue reflects the negative interaction between the nation identity of Scotland and the national identity. What is currently exhibited is the non-violent non-harmonious coexistence,as well as effected by Supernational identity.During the evolution of Scotland's national identity in the UK,the lack of accumulation of cultural elements and the political mandatory operations has hidden potential problems in inducing national identity problems, which, has buried the hidden dangers of national identity crisis. On the whole, the unfavorable factors affecting the national identity of Scotland include the two aspects of primary and institutional factors, the elements of primary influence mainly refer to biological and cultural elements such as blood, biology, history, and religious culture. This has the function of "retrieving the source" in the construction of national identity. That Scotland has become part of the United Kingdom is not based on the common bloodline.Scotland also maintained a relatively independent religion and culture after being merged.Institutional elements refer to political systems, public rules, which are based on the needs of interests. They are more important factors in the Scottish independence issue. At present,Scotland is legally responsible for the national political system because its own interest needs are not met.The primary elements are affected by the long-term accumulation of history and have a certain degree of stability. The impact on British national identity is not easily solved in the short term. The construction of the national community and the cultivation of consciousness needs long-term accumulation, and it is possible to infiltrate the unified morality and values in the civic education and gradually cultivate a unified culture. At present,Scotland is more concerned with the lack of satisfaction of its own interests and disapproval of the legitimacy of the state power. It also needs to start with institutional elements and shape the political recognition of the country through the interaction of civil and state obligations, that is,recognition of the legitimacy of the political community. For the Scottish nation, when it comes to pursuing its own interests,Careful consideration should be given to the possible impact of separation on identity.
