| In a decade,the People's Republic of China has become the first partner of African countries.This great leap forwards has brought about major change,giving African countries a leeway,a reconfiguration of the balance of power in sub Saharan Africa.Senegal and China officially established diplomatic relations in 1971,relations that severed later,resulting from the principle that states have no friends but interests.During that period of break with China,Senegal will then establish diplomatic relations with Taiwan but that friendship will know its epilogue a few years later.It lasted 11 years and in 2005 diplomatic relations between the people's republic of China and Senegal were renewed.This thesis is deals with the development of diplomatic relations between China and Senegal in a new strategic partnership,in other words,the change of paradigm in their diplomatic relations.Through the different aspects of the cooperation such as economic,financial,political,military cooperation,the reestablishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Senegal has led to Senegal's diversification of partners and more autonomy from its western partners such as France and the USA,more flexibility in its international relations.The resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Senegal is for the latter,a part of realistic and pragmatic vision of the current geopolitical and economic context.For China,it's a means to increase its sphere of influence in Africa and on the international level as well thanks to the geographical position of Senegal and its political stability;which constitutes an important asset for China to consolidate and spread its presence in that strategic region.This thesis shows the chronology of the diplomatic relations between China and Senegal emphasizing the ins and outs of their cooperation.It shows also what the development of their relations entails,its impact in the current configuration of the international relations and the issues to which they are related. |
