Community Support To Mental Health Of The Urban Elderly

In the context of social transition period and the aging of population,the security of urban elders' metal health is absent,and the spiritual needs of the urban elder are often difficult to be satisfied.The demands of urban elders' later life have to be met by the corresponding support of the community,which is nearby,convenient,and has a familiar interpersonal relationship.As for the mental security of the urban elder,however,the construction of community support has not been fully addressed.The research only exist in the relationship between social support and mental health,which is lack of the pertinence;or construct an informal community support unilaterally,which has ignored the comprehensiveness of social support system.The consequence is that the mental health of the urban elder has long been in poor state.In essence,the insufficient of urban elders' community support lies in the current mode of community construction which is non-community-oriented.Comparing with the traditional communities whose basic bonds are territory and relationship,modern administrative communities have largely lost its meaning on the real community.The community and even the whole society are faced with the problem and tendency of fragmentation,however,community services and the system are not improved towards the aim of establishing a real sense of community.There is a lack of mental community junction among the elder groups,as a result of unsustainable contact and association which should be persistent.The construction of urban elders' community support should follow the community-oriented mode of community building.Advance the implementation of security system for the elder by the collaborative governance,improve the construction of supporting facilities for grassroots communities,advocate the family support for the elders' mental health simultaneously,and develop the professional social work methods to build the community support for the elder.Comprehensively and accurately grasp the construction of community support for the urban elder,thereby provide comprehensive and targeted social support for the urban elder to facilitate them to enjoy their old age well during the transition period.
